My dad was Peter Taylor; working-class lad, family man, goalie, legendary football manager with Brian Clough and peanut enthusiast!

I am writing a book about Dad’s journey through life and what led him and his friend Brian to the dizzying heights of two League Championships with Derby County and Nottingham Forest and two European cups plus countless other honours.

There will be two books; the first chronicling his early life in the Meadows area of Nottingham, through his playing career with Forest, Coventry & Middlesbrough, where he met Brian and their fantastic managerial partnership at Hartlepool and Derby County. For Pete’s Sake: The Back Streets to the Baseball Ground will be published by Matador on October 4th but will be available through this website at a special pre-publication discounted price in August.  The second, as yet un-named book, will follow next year and will take Dad and Brian to Brighton and Hove Albion and on to Nottingham Forest.

I’m co-writing the book with long-time friend, journalist and author Stafford Hildred who was there through much of the journey. So many people have come forward to offer their stories, memories and anecdotes about my dad and it has made for a fantastic first book.

The book will come out about the same time as the Clough and Taylor Statue at Derby County by Andy Edwards, is unveiled.

Keep checking back to the site for regular blog updates and some exclusive excerpts from the book. If you have any memories you’d like to share about Peter Taylor please leave a comment or email wdickinson1@googlemail.com.

Many thanks,
